Website conversion rate is the percentage of visitors to a clinic's website who take a meaningful action, such as calling, messaging on WhatsApp or booking.
What it means
Website conversion rate tells you how well your whole website turns visitors into enquiries. A landing page is built for one offer. Your website serves everyone: patients researching a condition, people checking the doctor's background, and others looking for the address or timings.
A website can look beautiful and still lose most of its visitors. Common reasons are slow loading on mobile, no clear way to contact the clinic, a booking form that asks too much, or pages that talk about the clinic instead of the patient's concern. Conversion rate makes these leaks visible.
How to calculate it
Website conversion rate = enquiries from the website ÷ unique website visitors × 100
Count click-to-call, WhatsApp clicks, form submissions and online bookings. Set these up as tracked actions so the count is accurate.
For example, a clinic website has 4,000 visitors in a month and 80 enquiries come from it. Website conversion rate = 80 ÷ 4,000 × 100 = 2%.
What good looks like
HBA does not publish a website conversion benchmark. Higher is better, and HBA tracks it weekly together with page speed and the booking rate of website enquiries. You can check where else patients slip away using our patient leak calculator.
How to improve it
- Put a call button and a WhatsApp button on every page, visible on mobile without scrolling.
- Make each treatment page answer the patient's real questions: what it is, who it suits, what to expect and the next step.
- Show the doctor clearly, with qualifications and a short video introduction.
- Cut form fields to the minimum: name, number and concern.
- Improve load speed on mobile and test it regularly. Our clinic websites are built around these basics.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good conversion rate for a clinic website?
HBA does not set a fixed benchmark, because it depends on how much of your traffic is ready to book. Track it every week, aim for steady improvement, and look at what happens to the enquiries too. A website that brings fewer but better enquiries may be doing a better job.
Why does my clinic website get visitors but no enquiries?
Usually the page loads slowly on mobile, the contact options are hard to find, or the content does not answer the patient's real questions. Add visible call and WhatsApp buttons, simplify forms, introduce the doctor clearly and make each treatment page explain the next step plainly.
