Average ticket is the average revenue a clinic earns from each treated patient, found by dividing total treatment revenue by the number of patients treated.
What it means
Average ticket, sometimes called average revenue per patient, tells you how much each treated patient is worth to the practice in a given period. It reflects your pricing, the plans your doctors recommend and how many patients take the complete plan rather than a single session.
It matters because a practice grows in only three ways: more patients, a higher average ticket, or more visits per patient. Many clinics chase only the first. Raising the average ticket ethically, by recommending complete care and packaging it well, is usually quicker and costs nothing in ads.
How to calculate it
Average ticket = total treatment revenue ÷ number of treated patients
Use the same period for both numbers, and leave out consultation fees if you want a clear view of treatment value.
For example, a clinic collects ₹12,00,000 from treatments in a month across 80 treated patients. Average ticket = ₹12,00,000 ÷ 80 = ₹15,000.
What good looks like
HBA's benchmark is to grow average ticket by 5 to 7% every quarter. That growth should come from better plans and better packaging, never from pushing treatments a patient does not need.
How to improve it
- Recommend the complete plan the patient needs, with a clear timeline and total, instead of selling one session at a time.
- Build packages around the patient's goal, such as a full course with review visits included.
- Review your prices once a year and adjust them as your experience and demand grow. Our pricing and profitability work starts here.
- Offer EMI so patients can choose the right plan rather than the cheapest one.
- Track average ticket per doctor and per treatment every month, and discuss the gaps openly with the team.

Frequently asked questions
How can a clinic increase average ticket ethically?
Recommend the complete care a patient needs, explain it as one plan with a total and a timeline, and offer payment options so cost does not force them to cut the plan short. Never add treatments the patient does not need. Honest recommendations and good packaging raise the average on their own.
How fast should average ticket grow?
HBA's benchmark is growth of 5 to 7% every quarter. If yours is flat for two or three quarters, look at how plans are presented, whether prices have been reviewed recently, and how many patients choose single sessions over complete courses. Track it per doctor and per treatment.
