Google Ads work for Vadodara clinics when every treatment has its own campaign and budget, ad groups follow search intent, and each ad lands on a matching condition page in English and Gujarati. Target the city plus the towns your records show, decide deliberately about relatives searching from abroad, block diet, job and other-city searches, and judge spend by cost per treated patient.
A surgeon in Vadodara ran one Google campaign for everything he did: gallbladder surgery, hernia repair and bariatric surgery, all in one budget, all sent to his homepage. He could tell me his cost per click to the paisa. He could not tell me which surgery the money was actually bringing in.
Google search ads catch patients at the moment they look for help. They work best for treatments people search by name, and they need structure to work. I'll use a general and bariatric surgery practice as the example, because it shows two very different kinds of search inside one account.
Which treatments should a Vadodara clinic advertise on Google first?
The ones people search for by name, with high value to your practice. Gallbladder stone surgery and hernia repair are classic examples: patients type "gallbladder stone operation cost Vadodara" or "hernia surgeon near me" when they have already decided they need help.
Bariatric surgery is different. Some patients search for it directly. Many more are still thinking about it, and those people are often better reached with education on YouTube and Meta. Start Google with the searched-by-name treatments, and give bariatric surgery its own small campaign so you can see whether search brings real patients.
One local habit to remember: people still say and type "Baroda" as well as "Vadodara". Build keywords around both.
How should each campaign be split?
One campaign per treatment, each with its own budget. Inside each, four ad groups:
- The treatment: "laparoscopic gallbladder surgery Vadodara", "hernia operation Baroda".
- The cost: "gallbladder operation cost", "bariatric surgery cost Vadodara".
- A specialist nearby: "general surgeon near Alkapuri", "bariatric surgeon in Vadodara".
- The condition: "gallbladder stone pain", "hernia symptoms".
Each group gets ads that answer its search. Cost searches get ads about clear, all-inclusive plans. Specialist searches get ads about experience and proof. Keep matching tight at the start, exact and phrase, and only loosen it once you have data and negatives.
What should the location settings be?
Start with the area your patients actually come from: the city, plus the towns that already send you patients. For many Vadodara clinics that means places like Anand, Bharuch, Godhra or Halol, but check your own records before you guess. Leave Ahmedabad and Surat out unless your CRM shows patients really travel from there.
Then decide deliberately about relatives abroad. For big surgeries, a son or daughter in another country often searches on a parent's behalf. Google's location options can include people outside your area who show interest in it. If you want to reach them, test it in a small, separate campaign, so it never quietly eats your main budget. Check the current settings carefully, because they change.
Run ads when someone can answer the phone, and add call buttons, your location and links to key pages.
Which searches should a Vadodara surgery practice block?
Build the negative list before launch. For this example:
| Category | Example negatives |
|---|---|
| Diet and home remedies | diet chart, weight loss tea, home remedy, ayurvedic |
| Study and jobs | nursing course, MBBS, job, salary, vacancy |
| Free and schemes | free, or a government scheme name if you are not empanelled for it |
| Other cities | Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, unless your records show those patients |
| Non-patients | pictures, video, animation, PDF |
Then open the search terms report every week. Add bad searches as negatives and good ones as keywords. That half-hour habit saves more money than anything clever you can do with bidding.
How do you judge a Google Ads budget in Vadodara?
By cost per treated patient, against what that patient is worth. Here is an example.
Say your gallbladder campaign spends ₹30,000 in a month, gets 60 leads at ₹500 each, and 5 patients have surgery. That is ₹6,000 per treated patient. If a gallbladder patient is worth ₹70,000 to the practice in the first year, 10 to 20% is ₹7,000 to ₹14,000. The campaign is doing well.
Your bariatric campaign spends ₹80,000, gets 40 leads at ₹2,000 each, and 2 patients have surgery. That is ₹40,000 per treated patient, which sounds alarming. But if a bariatric patient is worth ₹3 lakh in the first year, 10 to 20% is ₹30,000 to ₹60,000. That campaign is healthy too. An expensive lead is not the same as an expensive patient. These numbers are illustrative, but this is the only fair way to judge.
Count calls, forms and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, and send back which leads had surgery as soon as you can.
What does the landing page need?
Every ad goes to the page that matches the search, never the homepage. Each condition page needs a headline in the patient's words, who it is for, causes explained simply, all options including non-surgical ones, step by step from consultation to recovery, honest risks, how pricing works, proof shared with consent, eight to ten questions, and call and WhatsApp buttons visible on a phone.
Three Vadodara additions. A Gujarati version of your most important pages. A list of the insurers you are cashless with, if any. And a short section for families abroad on how they can join a consultation by video. For bariatric surgery, keep every claim honest: no guaranteed weight loss and nothing that shames anyone's body. Google also restricts personalised advertising based on health, so you cannot follow people who visited these pages.
Our patient acquisition team builds these accounts, our websites and search work builds the pages, and our bariatric surgery and gastroenterology pages show how we think about those specialities. More on the city is on our Vadodara page.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use Baroda or Vadodara in my Google Ads keywords?
Both. Many people still say and type Baroda, while official listings and many searches use Vadodara. Build phrase and exact match keywords around each, plus area names like Alkapuri or Gotri where relevant, and check your search terms report after a fortnight to see which ones actually bring treated patients.
Can I target NRI relatives searching for my Vadodara clinic from abroad?
You can test it. Google's location options can reach people outside your area who show interest in it, but this can also waste budget on people who will never visit. Run it as a small, separate campaign, send it to pages that explain video consultations and written plans, and judge it only by treated patients.
Is Google Ads or Meta better for bariatric surgery in Vadodara?
Often both, doing different jobs. Google catches patients already searching for bariatric surgery by name. Meta and YouTube reach people who are still thinking about it and need education first. Start with a small Google campaign to capture existing demand, and build educational content alongside it, judged by treated patients.
Why is my clinic's cost per click high but my results good?
Because clicks and patients are different things. High-intent searches for surgery can cost more per click and still bring patients at a healthy cost. Ignore cost per click on its own. Track every lead to surgery, calculate cost per treated patient, and compare it with that patient's first-year value.
